a question about those free adwords credits

Is there a limit of adwords credits a single person can obtain according to adwords' policy? or can you get some with your hosting..and then some more from a friend who gives them to you..and some more...

I know that wouldnt be a valid (or very profitable) business modell and its not how I plan on making a living lol..but Im about to choose a new host and I'm seriously wondering (dont laugh plz!): If I get 75$ of credit for paid advertising on adwords and yahoo, does that hosting contract (shared server) pay for itself if I plan on doing some PPC and the hosting cost is < 75$?

I have to hosting packages and am about to make a choice, that's why I'm wondering.

thx

I'll have to consult with the policy folks to be 100% sure - but at present I am about 90% certain that these 'credits' are meant to be used one per new advertiser.

I know that this tends to make folks think, "Hey, I'll just open a new account to use that second promotional code I got", but I'd advise against this. Under most circumstances multiple accounts for one advertiser are counter to AdWords policy, unless there is a compelling reason to need more than one account. And, to be straightforward about it, the desire to use another promotional code will not fall into the 'compelling reason' bucket.

Forgive me as I lapse into opinion here, but in the big picture I think it is far more important to spend time in thoroughly learning how AdWords works (so that you make a profit for every dollar you spend) than it is to spend time trying to maximize the amount of 'free' advertising available. In the long run, the return will be much greater.

Just my $0.02

Thanks for the information that its per *new* advertiser. Makes sense. If I didnt make this clear enough: I dont plan on making a living on free adwords tokens LOL. I was just trying to make my decision on which hosting package to get a bit easier b/c I had a hard time deciding

Re: a question about those free adwords credits

G will link up your account if they see identical payment information, website URLs, and other tell tale signs of same company running two accounts to sell the same product or service...accept in the case of affiliate sales.

Some major companies abuse the affiliate loophole. Affiliates are allowed to advertise the same product and service from the same company. The sponsor company funds the affiliate in one way or another and the affiliate opens the account and advertises the product and service. In this way the sponsor company can dominate the ad space on Google for a number of key terms.

Other companies simply create xyz1.com xyz2.com xyz3.com and I assume fund it with different credit cards. I wont call them out by name, but the companies I see do this dont even change much on their landing pages from one domain to the other, just the logo and color scheme.

Re: a question about those free adwords credits

That will get you dropped for both sooner or later.... the affiliate programs are only allowed to be one advertiser per search - of all the affiliates not one per customer.

Re: a question about those free adwords credits

You'll find out soon as Google reads SEW frequently -

What it comes down to is intention. If they find you are intentionally trying to dup their system to have multiple ads they may ban you altogether.

If your intention was to simply set up two accounts for legitimate reasons they will likely adjust your tactics to comply with thier TOCs.

We handle the accounts for a number of companies within a very specific vertical. This creates a situation where most of our accounts have a similar structure as well as ad and landing page tactics. We of course differentiate the ads and content to support the competitive advantages of each company. This alone results in significantly different placements and traffic. Google and our rep specifically are very good about understanding our model and making sure none of our accounts are ever linked. On our part we make sure we are very clear about our set up and do all we can to make sure we are in line with Google's TOCs. This is a common relationship between Google and Agency style adwords accounts.

Re: a question about those free adwords credits

Enlighten me Aussie.

Do I understand you correctly; one affiliate per keyword term?

So if I go to Google and search for "vonage" and I see 7 ad listings all for Vonage but offered by "affiliated" companies what is this viewed as?

Same for "Sprint Phones" and more.

whats your take on this?
